The short answer: at RentEvent a bartender costs ISK 8,990 per hour and the minimum is 2 hours. The total price depends on how long the bar is open and how many bartenders your guest count calls for. Here are examples of typical parties so you can see straight away where you land.

What affects the price?

  • Time at the bar. The hours you book are the time the bartender is on duty behind the bar.
  • Number of guests. We recommend one bartender per 35 guests. That keeps the queue short and every guest gets their drink quickly.
  • Setting up before the party. If the bartender should arrive early and set up the bar, we agree on that in advance and the time is charged the same as time at the bar.
  • Extending. If the party runs late and you want to keep the bar open, each half hour started is charged at ISK 4,495 per bartender.

What's included and what do you provide?

The bartender mixes, pours and serves your guests and keeps the bar tidy all evening. All our bartenders have at least two years' bar experience. We go through the drinks menu with you before the party and help you work out the quantities.

You provide the drinks, the ice and access to water. RentEvent does not sell alcohol. The bartender brings the bar tools: shaker, jigger, strainer and bar spoon. Glasses and a beer tap can be hired from us in the same order: cocktail glasses, lowball glasses and a beer tap.

Is hiring a bartender worth it?

At most parties, the bar is what takes up most of the host's time. With a bartender you get to be a guest at your own party, the drinks are better and more consistent, and less goes to waste because everything is measured. At weddings, what often matters most is that guests have a drink in hand as soon as they arrive, and a bartender is ready behind the bar before the first guests turn up.
