1Cancellations and refunds
Cancellations must be sent in writing to [email protected]. Notice is counted from the agreed delivery time.
Notice and refund
| Notice | Refund |
|---|---|
| 7 days or more | Full refund |
| Less than 7 days but at least 48 hours | 50% refund, or a credit note for the full amount |
| Less than 48 hours | No refund |
No 14-day right of withdrawal
Equipment rental and services for an event tied to a specific date generally fall under the exemption in point l of Article 18 of the Consumer Contracts Act No. 16/2016 from the 14-day right to withdraw from a contract. Instead, the cancellation rules above apply, which are often more favourable.
Part of an order
The same rules apply if part of an order is cancelled, for example if the amount of equipment is reduced.
Postponement
If an event is postponed with at least 48 hours' notice, the booking can be moved once to a new date free of charge, provided the equipment is available that day. Otherwise the cancellation rules apply.
Credit note
A credit note is valid for 24 months from issue and can be used towards any rental or service from RentEvent.
How refunds are made
Refunds are made with the same payment method used for the purchase, within 14 days of the cancellation being accepted. If an invoice has been issued, a credit invoice is issued against it.
Cancellation by RentEvent
If RentEvent cannot deliver the equipment or service ordered for reasons on RentEvent's side, the hirer receives a full refund for whatever was not delivered.
2Liability for equipment and damage
The hirer is responsible for the equipment from delivery until RentEvent has collected it or it has been returned. RentEvent then has up to 3 working days to inspect the equipment and notify the hirer of any damage that occurred during the rental period.
The hirer must take good care of the equipment, use it only for its intended purpose and follow RentEvent's instructions. The equipment may not be sublet, lent to others or moved from the delivery address without RentEvent's consent.
Damage and lost equipment
The hirer pays for equipment that is damaged, broken or lost. The charge is the cost of repair or, if repair is not possible, the purchase or replacement value of the equipment.
Normal wear
The hirer is not responsible for normal wear from ordinary use, nor for defects the equipment had at delivery. Breakages, tears, burn holes, dents and missing equipment count as damage.
Breakdown during an event
If equipment breaks down, the hirer must report it immediately by phone on 778 8817 so RentEvent can put it right. RentEvent will repair the equipment or provide comparable equipment as quickly as possible. If that is not possible, the rental price of that item is refunded. No refund applies if the breakdown is caused by incorrect use, and if a breakdown is not reported until after the event, this may affect the right to a refund.
Late return
If the return is delayed beyond the agreed time, extra rent is charged for each day or part of a day.
3Cleaning, delivery and return
Glasses
Glasses do not need to be washed. Washing the glasses is included in the price.
Other equipment
Other equipment, such as beer taps, tables, benches and tents, must be returned clean and in the same condition as when it was received.
Tents
Tents must be returned dry and free of tape, decorations and other fixings.
Cleaning fee
If equipment is returned unreasonably dirty, RentEvent reserves the right to charge a cleaning fee according to the table below.
Rental period
The rental period runs from the delivery date to the return date chosen when booking. Rental prices are charged per day between the two: delivery on a Saturday and return on a Sunday is one day, Friday to Sunday is two days. If RentEvent delivers earlier or collects later for its own convenience, nothing is added to the rental price.
Delivery and return
RentEvent delivers and collects equipment at the agreed time. The hirer, or someone on their behalf, must be on site and ensure easy access.
Delivery fee
In the capital area (Reykjavík, Kópavogur, Hafnarfjörður, Garðabær, Mosfellsbær, Seltjarnarnes and Álftanes), delivery and collection are free for orders over ISK 10,000. If the total of the items and services ordered, including VAT, is below that, a delivery fee of ISK 4,990 is added to the order. The delivery fee is shown as a separate line on the booking list before you pay. Delivery outside the capital area is by arrangement.
Call-out fee
If nobody is on site to receive or hand back equipment at the agreed time, RentEvent reserves the right to charge a call-out fee of ISK 14,900 for each extra trip.
Cleaning fees
| Equipment | Cleaning fee |
|---|---|
| Party tent 5×8 m | ISK 14,990 |
| Party tent 4×5 m | ISK 9,990 |
| Beer tap | ISK 4,990 |
| Tables and benches (per set) | ISK 1,990 |
| Patio heater | ISK 1,990 |
| Cocktail kit | ISK 990 |
| Glasses | Included in rental |
4Party tents, weather and force majeure
Space and ground
The hirer is responsible for making sure there is enough space and flat, firm ground on site, and confirms this when booking. The 5×8 m party tent needs a flat area of at least 6×9 m and the 4×5 m party tent at least 5×6 m. Clear height must be at least 3 m.
Tent cannot be put up because of conditions on site
If a tent cannot be put up because of lack of space, the ground or access, neither the rental nor the set-up fee is refunded. The same applies to equipment ordered for use in the tent.
Wind limits and safety
RentEvent reserves the right to refuse set-up or to take a tent down if the wind forecast or the wind exceeds the tent's safety limits of 10 m/s average wind or 15 m/s in gusts, or if conditions are otherwise unsafe. The safety of guests and staff always comes first.
Storms and force majeure
If a storm, closed roads, natural disasters, orders from the authorities or other events beyond anyone's control prevent delivery or set-up, the hirer is offered a credit note or a move to a new date, less RentEvent's out-of-pocket costs. Neither party is liable to the other for damages caused by such events.
Responsibility after set-up
The hirer is responsible for the tent once it has been put up. In wind, the sides of the tent must be closed. Anchors, pegs and weights must not be removed or moved. If the weather gets worse, the hirer must contact RentEvent without delay.
Fire and heaters
Open flames, grills and gas heaters are not allowed inside tents.
5Bartending service
Hourly rate
The hourly rate and minimum time are as stated in the booking.
Extensions and overtime
Work beyond the agreed time depends on the bartender agreeing on the day and is charged for each started half hour at the applicable hourly rate.
Bartender unable to attend
If a bartender is unable to attend, RentEvent will try to find a replacement. If that is not possible, the service is refunded in full and RentEvent's liability is limited to that amount.
Alcohol and licences
The hirer supplies all drinks and is responsible for any licences the event may require. RentEvent does not sell alcohol.
Right to refuse service
Bartenders reserve the right to refuse to serve intoxicated people and anyone under 20, and may ask for ID.
Facilities
The host provides a suitable place to work, ice and access to running water.
Working environment
A bartender may stop working, without a refund, if subjected to threats, harassment or violence.
6Products sold
Consumers can withdraw from the purchase of products sold, such as syrup and disposable glasses, within 14 days of delivery and get a refund. The product must be returned in the same condition as when it was delivered. If it has been used beyond what is needed to check its characteristics, the refund may be reduced accordingly.
This right does not apply to syrup and other food in sealed packaging once the seal has been broken, as it is then not suitable for return for health protection and hygiene reasons.
Defects in products sold are governed by the Consumer Sales Act No. 48/2003.
7Disputes
If there is a disagreement about how a matter has been handled, please contact us at [email protected] and we will reply within 5 working days. If no agreement is reached, consumers can refer the matter to the Complaints Committee on Goods and Services (kærunefnd vöru- og þjónustukaupa, www.kvth.is). Otherwise, the provisions of RentEvent's general terms of business on governing law and jurisdiction apply.
