How to work out the amount

  1. Estimate the number of cocktails. Plan for 1–2 per guest if cocktails are on offer.
  2. Divide by what a litre makes: 40–50 for sugar syrup, 33–50 for flavoured syrup and about 16 for purée.
  3. Round up and add one extra bottle to be safe.

Example: 60 guests with 1.5 cocktails each is 90 cocktails. That takes two to three bottles of flavoured syrup. More examples are in syrup and purée: how many drinks does a litre make.

Non-alcoholic cocktails

The syrups work well in non-alcoholic cocktails, for example for a confirmation or a dry January. Here are six simple recipes.

With glasses and a bartender

To mix you need a cocktail set and suitable glasses, or a bartender who brings the tools. See the equipment for a cocktail party at home and bar hire in one order.
